I got the dreaded "URL NOT FOUND" when I tried to reply to the other thread, so I'll start a new one because I'd really like to eliminate any confusion.
***************************************************
I have to admit to being thoroughly confused. JC_Baseball made a post about some stat he found. I replied saying I’d like to know where he got that stat because I’d like to see it.

Then Baron said it wasn’t like a stat I used, and I tried to explain that although it wasn’t something typically thought of as a stat, it most assuredly was. And on top of that, it was a pretty good one because it helped him manage the personnel. Of course if it was something he was just making up, that’s something else again because then it wouldn’t be anything but a perception. But assuming he was really “charting” the way he said, it is indeed a statistic in the best sense of the word.

Now suddenly JC_Baseball makes what I perceive as a pretty snarky remark about something he wasn’t even part of. What am I missing here? Are Baron and JC_Baseball the same person, and is this site now a place where no one gets to ask questions?

JC_baseball and I use to coach in the same league in Elk Grove along with Rob Rinaldi. We know each others coaching acumens and styles. Speaking of which - good coaches are dropping like flies.

We should have a new upgraded forum sometime next week.

However, we will not be able to transfer discussions and posting nor accounts to the new forum.
We will be keeping the old forum in static form which means read only.

It will be an inconvenience, because everyone will have to sign up for the new forum. But all the posting issues with the old forum will no longer be an issue on the new forum. Plus the new forum will be much more robust.

This is the best we can do.
Please be patient.

Bill and Jim you guys are regular comedians, I wonder if JC is contemplating some snarky remark. When we coach against each other he is a bit thin skinned.

You guys coached in EG? Pretty cool. Can you say what schools y’all coached at? I’ve been into HSBB in EG since 2000 when my boy started HS, and am right now in the middle of the big upheaval after Rob stepped down. With the Delta Valley and Delta River leagues merging this year, the new HC at PG is in for one heckuva ride.

I for one am supporting him 100% because I know what’s likely to happen. If he wins, everybody’s gonna say it was because Rinaldi left him with a stocked team. If he loses they’ll be saying he’s a lousy coach and needs to go. But the truth is, that team lost 6 starting Sr position players, and of the 6 pitchers throwing 178 innings, all with V pitching experience going into last season, all but 2 are gone. So while it’s not as though there aren’t any players in the system, this will be a rebuilding season in more ways than 1, and it’s gonna be danged interesting.

Glad to hear the forum’s going to be upgraded!

Scorekeeper: I'd rather not; I checked with Rob, Nolan Dunkly and Rusty McClain and the entire district item is out of control. When Coach Cattolico stepped down after getting by passed for the AD job the snowball started rolling quickly downhill.

Schools with new principals or AD's must have a secret seminar that they attend and they all agree it seems to fire or denigrade all previous coaches with tremendous abilities to TEACH the game the correct way.

HS baseball has more politics (so it seems) then any other HS sport. All the parents are experts and all of their kids are going to be major leaguers.

Believe me, I understand why you’d rather not.   But you are correct about things being not only out of control, but waaaaay out of control. I’m not sure about every little incident about how things got this bad in just a few years, but I honestly believe the politics of it is ruining what has always been a great source of athletics in NorCal.

Having a contact who’s in the REAL know, I’m pretty sure I know what’s precipitated this recent mess, and it turns my stomach. But what is one to do? The EG sports scene is so incestuous, there’s really nothing anyone can do who isn’t already in the “group”, and it isn’t likely anyone in the group would strike out on his/her own and defy the group. It’s just not normal to find people cutting off their nose to spite their face.

@ scorekeeper

I too cannot fathom that somebody in the district that you and I know about - hasn't had the morals and fortitude to buck the current system and go against the grain and "tell it like it is" so to speak. Like you teased a bit, there is something or somebody always lurking in the background with information that could help bring the truth to light.

Is Pete Saco still in charge of HS Sports as commissioner?

No, Pete’s gone, last year I think.

There’s at least one guy making some noises, but now that he’s been pushed aside and might like to work again, he’s still got to be a little careful.
