Hello,

This is my first post.  I've been quietly reading many posts and learning a lot about the game of baseball.  Having only played through 13 year old Babe Ruth myself, I find the info shared here very valuable. . .  because I have a talented 14 soon to be 15 year old.

My post will be focused on injury because that's the theme of my son's baseball life of late.  Without boring everyone to death with details of each injury.  I'll summarize to state that a severely broken ankle and torn ACL highlight the past 30 months.  This all coming after years of being injury free.   He recently re-injured the repaired knee in PE class and is facing yet another surgery.  My eyes fill with tears just explaining this most perplexing set of circumstances surrounding injury.

My son has handled rehabilitation with great courage and effort with the hope of returning to the fields to play the game he loves.  No doubt he'll work hard and get back as soon as the physicians caring for him indicate he's fully recovered, however I'd be lying if I didn't admit it's very tough to remain positive as Head Games suggests is required.

I am seeking advice about how to keep my son's spirits up (mine as well) and to not give up even when it appears all hell is breaking loose against him in regards to injury.  If anyone has a similar story which ended on a positive note please share.

Thank you,

jack

Update-  My son has fully recovered from his latest injury.  He is now playing fall ball and attending baseball showcases through out the fall.  This winter will include baseball camps east of the Mississippi river, and private workouts/conditioning.  I am posting again only as a encouragement to others who may go through an injury bug ordeal.  We made it through this unwelcome set of circumstances with much prayer and faith.   (Romans 8:28) All means just that, All, both positive and negative! ! !
